What is frozen shoulder, how to treat it, how to prevent it, and how to exercise
Frozen shoulder, also known as adhesive capsulitis, refers to a condition in which the tissues surrounding the shoulder joint become painful and stiff due to incomplete movement or trauma. This is caused by the loss of connective tissue, such as muscles or ligaments, leading to inflammation and subsequent deposition and hardening of tissue due to the contact between adjacent tissues.
Treatment for frozen shoulder is focused on relieving symptoms and promoting movement. Commonly used methods include physical therapy, medication, injections, and surgery. Physical therapy is used to strengthen muscles and increase the flexibility of ligaments, while injections are used to reduce inflammation and relax muscles. Surgery is used as a last resort if other treatment methods are not effective or if it is necessary.
To prevent frozen shoulder, it is important to move your body frequently and perform regular stretching exercises. It is also important to carefully observe changes in posture and use safe postures and exercise methods to strengthen muscles and maintain flexibility.
Patients with frozen shoulder should receive physical therapy and perform stretching exercises regularly at home. Effective stretching exercises include stretching the arm back, stretching the arm forward and holding the wrist, and raising the arm sideways. Exercise should be performed regularly, but if there is severe pain or discomfort during exercise, it should be stopped immediately.
